The Future Forward Leadership Committee is focused on supporting this initiative and the groups involved, through research, fundraising and breaking down barriers that are encountered.
2009 Action Plan:
(1) Conduct an Assets & Gaps Analysis: Through a series of surveys, using the internet based survey tool zoomerang, we intend to identify what the public perceives as our assets and gaps as they relate to our mission of “taking action to attract, retain and engage the future of Green County.” Specifically this translates to how prepared is Green
county to:
· Attract talented workers to our area in order to meet workforce needs and grow our local economy.
· Retain talented people within our communities so they can contribute to the growth of Green County.
· Engage people in creating a community where they want to live, work, shop, and raise their families.
Our goal is to finish these surveys by the end of November, so an analysis can be created by the end of the year. As part of the analysis, we hope to create a “handprint” similar to the handprints created by Rebecca Ryan, Next Generation Consulting. This will allow us to benchmark Green County against other areas who have completed the handprint analysis.
Progress to Date: The first survey has been completed. Assistance is needed to write questions for the remaining surveys.
(2) Secure Grant Funding: We intend to identify grants to support the Future Forward Green County initiative. Volunteer grant writers are needed to assist us.
Progress to date: We are pleased to announce that the R. Kubly Family Foundation and The Monroe Fund have both awarded FFGC grants this year.
(3) Establish a Formal Organizational Structure: We intend to establish the Future Forward Green County initiative as a 501c3 non-profit organization, under the umbrella with Green County Development Corporation.
Progress to Date: A board of directors has been elected, and by-laws are being established. Officers are: President Nikki Matley; Vice-President Kent Anderson; Secretary Pam Christopher and Treasurer Luis Carus.
